The Godhead explained, part 2
We update studies as the Lord Jesus leads us. You can find the latest update of this study at ChurchAges.net
Jesus Christ is Lord God Almighty. The one and only Person Who is God.
- God made a Spirit body for Himself in order to be seen
- Water from a Rock had a prophetic meaning
- Jesus as the Son of God enabled God the Father to exist
- Humans are the sons of God
- Adam and Eve are not the image of 3 Men in the Godhead
- God cannot sit on the left hand of Jesus in heaven
- The Holy Ghost is the Father of Jesus
- Sometimes we seem to see a picture of two Persons
- The Son Of Man is the Ancient of Days moving in time
- Jehovah God died for us
God made a Spirit body for Himself in order to be seen
We humans only really understand something when we can picture it.
The word “handcuffs” creates a picture in our minds, something like this.
If we have seen a pair of handcuffs then the word "handcuffs" make sense to us.
So when the word “God” is mentioned, our brains will immediately try to make some picture of what we think God looks like.
But this creates a problem.
JOHN 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time;
the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
No one has ever seen God because God is not physical, He is a Spirit. We cannot see spirits.
JOHN 4:24 God is a Spirit:
We only see something if light bounces off it and enters our eyes. Light does not bounce off an invisible spirit.
JOHN 5:37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time,
nor seen his shape.
If you think you have seen a picture of God, you are mistaken. God has no shape that can be drawn.
The only accurate picture that you can draw of God is shown inside the red frame.
There is no shape inside the red frame. Nothing. That is as much of God as you will ever see.
JOHN 6:27:for him hath God the Father sealed.
Thus the Bible speaks of “God the Father” but never “God the Son”. Why?
"God the Father" is never mentioned in the Old Testament.
"God the Holy Ghost" is never mentioned in the Bible.
JOHN 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time;
the only begotten Son,
which is in the bosom of the Father,
he hath declared him.
All of God is a Spirit, which is invisible.
Please may I use the following very inadequate symbol to represent the invisible God Who cannot be seen.
So the invisible God wants to wrap some kind of a visible physical Body around Himself in order to be seen by humans.
(In Heaven He wrapped a spiritual Body around Himself in order to be seen by angels).
This Spiritual Body ( which was effectively a mask) simply showed the angels in Heaven where the invisible God was.
This spiritual Body, which makes certain characteristics of God visible, is begotten or made and thus it is not all of God. It is simply a visible image that declares where the invisible God is hiding inside.
God would then make a physical image or Body to hide inside so that He could be seen by people on earth.
EXODUS 13:21And the LORD went before them
by day in a pillar of a cloud,
to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:
The invisible Spirit of God (Who was not yet "God the Father" because He could not fully express Himself in a Cloud or in a Pillar of Fire) lived in a Cloud, that acted as if It were the son of God in order to declare where God was, and what He was doing. God was both a Guide and a Protection against the sun’s heat. This Cloud-body enabled the Jews to follow God during daylight hours and they kept cool on a hot day.
The invisible God, multi-tasking inside a physical Cloud.
EXODUS 13:21
And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way;
and by night in a pillar of fire,
to give them light; to go by day and night:
Then God hid in a pillar of Fire in order to be visible at night time.
This light overcame the darkness of night which has always been very problematic for mankind until gas lights were invented around 1800 and then the far more widespread electric lights were invented around 1880.
The pillar of Fire overhead also kept the Jews warm in the desert night-time cold. This was the first air conditioning. God making a Body for Himself in which He could do something for the welfare of human beings, and thus revealing His caring and loving nature towards the Jews.
The Fire and the Cloud were just “masks” that the invisible God was wearing.
He made these “masks or physical bodies” so that by wearing them He could be seen, in the same way that we make clothes that we can wear.
But God is very strict. He does not want us humans to make some kind of three-dimensional statue or idol to represent the body that God lives in. You and I have absolutely no idea what God looks like.
EXODUS 20:4Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image,
Only God can make a physical body suitable for Himself to dwell in.
A pillar of Fire and a Cloud could get mistaken for two Persons.
God quickly cuts that idea dead.
DEUTERONOMY 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
MARK 12:28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
:29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is,
Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
Whatever picture you may have of God in your mind, make very sure that it is only a picture of one Person.
EXODUS 14:24
And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians
through the pillar of fire and of the cloud,
and troubled the host of the Egyptians,
God was inside the Cloud and the Fire. He looked out through the Cloud and Fire.
This was God demonstrating His protection of His people.
The Egyptians had a professional army that could kill the Jews. God camped between the Jews and the Egyptians. This stopped the Egyptian advance. Then He troubled their horses making them scared so that they were not under control. God was giving the Egyptians a chance to retreat. They could not fight a supernatural enemy. But the Egyptians refused and later rode to their deaths in the Red Sea.
Water from a Rock had a prophetic meaning
When the Jews were deep in the desert, God did something totally supernatural.
He made a Rock-body that gave out a flood of water for hundreds of thousands of Jews and all their families and cattle. All this was done in a dry and arid desert.
Absolutely impossible in terms of any human logic. No one had ever thought of such a thing.
EXODUS 17:6 Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb;
and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it,
that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel
This was a preview of God’s bigger plan when God hid inside the Body of Jesus on Calvary.
Jesus was smitten and the Holy Spirit that left His Body when He died was a River of eternal Life that flowed into the church.
II CORINTHIANS 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself,
Where was God when Jesus died? He was hidden in the mangled and humiliated Body of Jesus.
JOHN 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
:39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive)
I CORINTHIANS 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them:
and that Rock was Christ.
In the desert God used a natural rock to give them life-giving water.
In the spiritual desert of Judaism, when they crucified Jesus, God used Him as the Rock of salvation to release the Holy Spirit that was within His Body, so that this Holy Spirit could give us eternal Life.
Jesus died in the presence of the elders of Israel to give us eternal life.
Just as Moses smote the rock in the presence of the Jewish elders.
EXODUS 17:6 Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb;
and thou shalt smite the rock,
and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink.
And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel
Jesus as the Son of God enabled God the Father to exist
The Spirit of God could never call Himself "God the Father" until He fully dwelled in the perfect "Son of God", Jesus.
That is why "God the Father" is never mentioned in the Old Testament.
Only in the New Testament would the perfect "Son of God" be begotten.
The Trinitarian expression "eternal Sonship" is unscriptural.
Speaking of Jesus the Bible says:
HEBREWS 1:3Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person,
God had made various physical or spiritual bodies for Himself in which He displayed certain of His characteristics at certain times.
Now God longed to make a Body for Himself in which He could display all of His characteristics, especially that of being the Saviour.
So God created a Human Man in which He could hide Himself and be known as the Man Jesus.
This was His ultimate Body through which He could reveal Himself.
This Man was called the "Son of God" because God is a Spirit and God is not flesh and Blood.
The invisible God hiding Himself in a human Man, Jesus Christ.
COLOSSIANS 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
HEBREWS 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
Jesus never changed.
Thus He always had the fulness of the Holy Spirit in Him.
In order to be seen in Heaven, God had to create a Spirit-Body for Himself.
God, as the Father, was always an invisible Spirit in the Old Testament. God dwelt in the human-looking Spirit Body that God made for Himself so that angels could see Him.
Why a human-looking Spirit Body?
Because man is made in the image of God and thus God wants to show Himself as a fellow-Man so that He can be related to us as a Kinsman Redeemer.
Jesus, as the Son of God, was the only Man Who was perfectly obedient to the fullness of the Spirit of God within Him.
Thus God's Spirit could manifest all of His power and glory through the Man, Jesus.
Finally, God was able to call Himself "God the Father" because He dwelled in a totally obedient "Son of God", the Perfect Man, Jesus.
JOHN 3:34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God:
for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.
The infinite Spirit of God could only dwell in a perfectly obedient and submissive Man.
This is our role Model. If we only speak what is Scriptural and become totally obedient to the Word of God, then we become children of God.
The Devil was happy to live in animals like the serpent and the pigs of Gedara.
God is more fussy. He only wants to live in the hearts of men and women.
Your and my human characteristics were in the Mind of God, which is the Spirit of God, right from before the foundation of the world.
Humans are the sons of God
Angels are not the sons of God.
HEBREWS 1:5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee?
God's saints were always in His mind as far back as you can imagine.
God was talking to Job.
JOB 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth?
declare, if thou hast understanding.
God knew of Job when He started to create the Earth. Job was already in God’s Mind.
JOB 38:7 When the morning stars sang together, and all
the sons of God shouted for joy?
Job was one of the sons of God.
You were in your father when he was a young man. You cannot remember those days but you were being influenced by his behavior.
When God began to create the earth, then all Christians and Jews who would later live on earth shouted for joy in God’s Mind. We do not remember it but we cheered loudly when we saw our future home, planet Earth, coming into existence.
REVELATION 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in
the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Right at the beginning God had our names in His Book of Life if we are believers.
We come to the two great mysteries of the Bible.
In the Old Testament, God was mostly an invisible Spirit called Jehovah. But hidden away in that Spirit were our human characteristics, especially the Humanity of Jesus.
In the Old Testament God was known as Jehovah but the name Jesus was never mentioned.
So man was veiled inside the invisible God.
Then everything changed.
In the New Testament, the invisible God was veiled in the Man Jesus. God veiled inside a Man.
In the New Testament God was known by the name Jesus but the name Jehovah is never mentioned.
Thus, the Jehovah of the Old Testament became the Jesus of the New Testament.
Now God allocates a certain measure of His Spirit to each born-again Christian.
That way God is building up a spiritual church over 2000 years of history whereby he dwells in each individual to make him or her a living stone in His church. That way God has lived in Christians and displayed His power to overcome all the different problems and situations that the Devil has thrown against the Christians over the seven church ages.
God living out His characteristics in the lives of His people.
Adam and Eve are not the image of 3 Men in the Godhead
Let us go back to the creation of man.
GENESIS 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him;
male and female created he them.
Let us try to make a picture of this event so that we can understand it better.
We start off with the traditional picture of the Trinity of three Men in Heaven.
Then we picture Adam and Eve after their creation.
Now we sit with problems:
Two people on earth do not form an image of three Persons in Heaven.
The woman, Eve, is not the image of any of the three Men in Heaven.
The Father is Jehovah. The Son is Jesus. Adam and Eve have names. But the Holy Spirit has no Name given Him in the Bible. Why not?
Then we have two Names for the three Persons in Heaven.
But there is no single Name for the three Persons of the Godhead. Effectively this means that the Christian God has got no Name.
We are reduced to talking about the Name of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit but never being able to say what that Name actually is.
So this has not been a very successful picture of God as it creates more problems than what it solves.
The Trinity places Jesus into the Godhead as the second Person (an unscriptural statement).
Paul contradicts this by placing the fullness of the Godhead in Christ.
COLOSSIANS 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
We only understand a topic if we can picture it.
Let us see how people have pictured the Trinity.
A nice picture of three People but there is no Scripture that shows us three People in Heaven.
But Egypt also had this similar picture of a trinity.
So we have borrowed the trinity from the pagans.
God made Moses take the Jews away from Egypt and their gods.
Again, we see a picture of three People by another artist.
The Son proceeds from the Father and the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Son.
With the Son much smaller than the Father, it is difficult to picture the fullness of the Godhead dwelling in Christ.
This picture does not make the three Persons co-equal.
This picture represents one God in three Persons.
The Hindus also tried to represent three persons in one god.
God cannot sit on the left hand of Jesus in heaven
The scene at the water baptism does not show three Persons.
There is a Man and a Dove. Then a Voice is heard. But three People are not seen.
The next picture shows two Men and a Dove.
It will be difficult to convince a skeptic that the Dove is a separate Person. Again there is no Scripture that shows such a scene as is painted below.
At the water baptism there was a Man Jesus, a Dove and a Voice. We will later show that the Holy Spirit actually spoke.
But, in no Scripture do we see two Men and a Dove.
The Bible thus does not give us a clear visual picture of three Men in the Godhead.
The mother of James and John asked Him if her sons could sit on either side of Him in the kingdom.
This scene is not possible if Jesus is on the right hand of His Father.
MATTHEW 20:21 And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.
MATTHEW 20:23 And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.
If He sits on the right hand of God the Father, then God is on His left hand and there is no vacancy there for anyone else to sit on His left hand.
If Jesus sits on the right hand of God then there is only place on His right hand for someone to sit.
The Holy Ghost is the Father of Jesus
The only Scripture that seems to give a picture of the Trinity is at the water baptism of Jesus.
Let us consider this.
John the Baptist was in the water. Jesus was on the river bank. The Holy Ghost came down like a Dove.
But John the Baptist had the Holy Spirit from his mother’s womb. So the Holy Spirit was in John.
LUKE 1:16 …and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.
Speaking of Jesus John said
JOHN 1:16 …for he was before me.
He was not referring to the Body of Jesus because John was six months older than Jesus. He was referring to the Holy Spirit that was in Jesus.
Jesus has to be superior to John. John had the Holy Spirit when he was six months in the womb.
The Body of Jesus had the Holy Spirit from conception.
God also dwelled in the Holy of Holies in the Temple in Jerusalem. Look what Jesus said:
LUKE 19:46 Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves.
Jesus acknowledged the presence of God in the Temple.
The Spirit of God tore the Temple veil when God left the holy of holies.
The Holy Spirit was in the Dove and in the Temple. A portion of the Spirit was in John. So Jesus, to be superior to John, had to have the Holy Spirit in Him as well.
Then a Voice spoke:
MATTHEW 3:17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Who is the Father of Jesus?
MATTHEW 1:21 for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
Whoever places the seed of life in a woman’s womb is the father of that child.
So the Holy Ghost is the Father of Jesus.
No human baby can have two fathers.
So God the Father and the Holy Spirit cannot be two different People.
The Holy Spirit spoke as He descended.
Most people believe that the Holy Ghost descended and went into Jesus. That is wrong.
JOHN 1:32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit
descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
JOHN 1:33 ……Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending,
and remaining on him,
The Spirit never entered Jesus, it rested on Him as an anointing.
ACTS 10:38
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power:
No Scripture says that God filled Jesus with the Holy Ghost.
Thus Jesus was always full of the Holy Spirit because He cannot change.
The anointing was a public manifestation that the indwelling supernatural Spirit of God was now in total control of the human Man. The Dove would lead the Lamb. The human mind was fully controlled by the supernatural Spirit.
The anointing means that the Supernatural Spirit now took full control of His Humanity
John saw one Person, a Man Jesus, who was physical and could be touched. The supernatural Dove was not God manifesting Himself as a Person. It was a vision that could not be touched.
What this event illustrates is that in Jesus two opposites unite: Natural and Supernatural
Submission and Control.
The Dove was a supernatural and could not be touched.
Think of a man in a TV studio. He is real. Then his TV image projects out onto various TV screens. But you cannot touch the TV images as they are not real people. These five people are actually just one real man that is physical.
So the supernatural Spirit of God can project into the hearts of people.
The Spirit of Christ can project into many people. The repentant heart takes the place of a TV screen.
Jesus in Heaven projects His Spirit into the born-again hearts of His people.
The Spirit of Christ also acts as anointing to energize and guide His people.
The red shapes represent the Spirit-filled believers. God projects His Spirit into the people.
The Dove descended on Jesus. So can a Spirit be inside a person and outside a person at the same time?
Saul saw the Spirit of Christ as a bright light on the road to Damascus.
But Jesus has to stay in Heaven, on the mercy seat, until all truth has been restored.
ACTS 3:20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
:21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things
Jesus must stay in Heaven until Elijah has restored the end-time church back to all the beliefs of the early church of the New Testament.
Yet Paul saw Jesus as a Pillar of Fire.
ACTS 9:3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus:
and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:
ACTS 9:5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
Only Jehovah is Lord to a Jew.
Sometimes we seem to see a picture of two Persons
But the Bible does give pictures that look like two Persons in the Godhead. (These Scriptures led the Jehovah Witnesses to their theory of the “twoness” Godhead of Father and Son. But to make that fit they had to deny that the Holy Spirit is a Person. Not a good idea).
There are Scriptures of Jesus sitting or standing next to God.
Daniel saw the Son of Man come to the Ancient of Days.
John saw the Lamb take the Book from the One Who sat on the throne.
Let us look closely at what John saw.
REVELATION 4:2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.
REVELATION 5:1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.
REVELATION 5:5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold,
the Lion of the tribe of Juda,
the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
REVELATION 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo,
in the midst of the throne
and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders,
stood a Lamb
as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
:7 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.
Not quite two People. A Man and a Lamb.
This is personification.
Representing a characteristic as a person or an animal.
The Lion represents Jesus as the King.
The Lamb represents Jesus as the Saviour and Sacrifice.
Again, two opposites unite in Jesus.
The strong and dangerous King of the beasts.
The gentle and harmless Lamb.
God is on the throne. By showing a Lion or a Lamb next to God makes it clear that there are not two People.
But let us assume that there are two People.
At first it looks like this:
BUT
ISAIAH 43:11 I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.
You can never look into Heaven and see the Saviour Jesus standing beside the Lord God.
If that is what you think you are seeing, you are mistaken.
Once again, two characteristics unite in Jesus. He is both Creator and Saviour.
ISAIAH 43:1 But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee.
But where was the Lamb? In the middle of the throne.
So the Lamb was the One Who sat in the throne.
REVELATION 5:6And I beheld, and, lo,
in the midst of the throne
and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders,
stood a Lamb.
So where was He moving?
He could not move through space as He was already in the midst of the throne.
He was moving through time,
to check that everyone who was meant to be saved had been saved.
Jesus is very careful to check everything carefully.
Blood makes the judgement seat a mercy seat.
REVELATION 19:13And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood:
and his name is called The Word of God.
He sits on the mercy seat with a Blood-stained garment.
Jesus was about to get off the mercy seat, which would turn it into a Judgement seat.
He first had to make sure that everybody who would accept Him as Saviour was safely in.
With Blood on His clothes He comes down for the battle of Armageddon.
So in Jesus are united the power of a Creator and the sacrifice of a Redeemer.
In Him is united a strong and dangerous King and a gentle, sacrificial Saviour.
The Son Of Man is the Ancient of Days moving in time
Then Daniel saw the Son of Man come to the Ancient of Days.
That certainly looks like two Persons.
But Who is the Ancient of Days?
People think Ancient refers to an older Person, God the Father. But does God age? No.
Ancient is a reference to wisdom and understanding which are essential qualities in a Judge.
JOB 12:12 With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.
DANIEL 7:9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow,
and the hair of his head like the pure wool:
his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.
No Scripture says that God the Father has white hair.
The Ancient of Days cannot be called "God the Father" because "God the Father" is never mentioned in the Old Testament.
A judge's white wig is made from wool. The judge wears it to show His submission to the laws of the land.
This is a diagram of a British judge wearing a white, woolen wig.
DANIEL 7:10 judgment was set, and the books were opened.
DANIEL 7:13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
But only Jesus has white hair.
REVELATION 1:13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man,
:14 His head and his hairs were white like wool,
as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
No Scripture says that God the Father has white hair.
JOHN 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man,
but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
So God the Father judges no man. Only Jesus does the judging.
How does He judge? By comparing our lives and beliefs to the Scripture.
JOHN 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words,
hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken,
the same shall judge him in the last day.
Everything has to be done according to Scripture.
An advocate stands to plead his case. The judge sits to pass his verdict.
Jesus has the wisdom and understanding of His Word to be the Judge.
He has the compassion of being a fellow human Being to make Him a sympathetic advocate.
I JOHN 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
The ministries of advocate and judge unite in Jesus as He interchanges His roles to act as both Advocate and Judge.
PSALM 85:10 Mercy and truth are met together;
righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
Mercy makes Him an Advocate.
Truth makes Him a Judge.
These two qualities unite in Christ.
PSALM 37:1 A Psalm of David. Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
:2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass,
and wither as the green herb.
This gives us an awesome and scary future look of Jesus as the Judge of the nations.
He pleads for mercy but He judges according to the Bible.
His sacrifice allows His Blood to wash us from our sins, if we repent. The Judge is strictly Scriptural.
JOHN 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
We look at the Bible to learn about Jesus. He is the One that we look to for redemption.
Then inside the Man Jesus is the Spirit of God, Who is God the Father. So when we find Jesus, we automatically find God.
JOHN 14:10 but the Father that dwelleth in me,
he doeth the works.
I TIMOTHY 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
JOB 9:33 Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, that might lay his hand upon us both.
A Daysman is a fellow human being who can speak to God on our behalf.
The Humanity of Jesus comes between the sinner and the supernatural God.
ROMANS 5:10 For if, when we were enemies,
we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
II CORINTHIANS 5:19 To wit, that
God was in Christ,
reconciling the world unto himself,
not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
When Jesus was on the cross, God was inside Him.
God looking at the repentant thief through the Blood of Jesus.
JOHN 16:32 Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone,
because the Father is with me.
Jehovah God died for us
ISAIAH 49:14
But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me.
:16 Behold,
I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands;
thy walls are continually before me.
Isaiah is speaking of the Lord God Jehovah.
The nails engraved us upon His palms as scars that He cannot forget.
ISAIAH 33:3 At the noise of the tumult the people fled;
at the lifting up of thyself
the nations were scattered.
God got lifted up inside the Body of Jesus.
Although God was in Jesus, He had to "turn His back" on Jesus and refuse to commune with Him when He took our sins on Himself. Thus Jesus died just as a Man, forsaken by the supernatural Spirit that refused to communicate with Him.
ISAIAH 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
Jesus thus died as a Man in the place of each repentant sinner.
LUKE 23:4 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
God judged that the sacrifice of Jesus was more than adequate to pay the price for the repentant thief. God judged Jesus to the full extent of the Law.
Jesus, by His sacrifice, was thus able to obtain a pardon for the repentant thief.
MATTHEW 25:21
His lord said unto him,
Well done, thou good and faithful servant:
thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
But, with His eyes like a flame of fire, Jesus condemns the unrepentant sinner to the flames.
MATTHEW 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
The Devil goes around like a roaring lion. Keep your words Scriptural.
Once you are in the unscriptural mouth of a lion you are doomed. Lions are so strong and quick.
Beware of unscriptural beliefs (like Trinity) built upon unscriptural words like "God the Son", "God the Holy Spirit", "Three in One", "One God in three Persons", "Jesus is in the Godhead", "Second Person of the Godhead", etc.
