Luke chapter 06 - An upside-down Gospel

Luke places the emphasis on Jesus as the Greatest Man. Luke also tells us what kind of human mind-set we must have in order to serve Jesus.

7  is the number of completion. There are  7  days in a week. There is no natural cycle of  7 days in Nature. Genesis has  7  days in which God created life on earth. This is our only reason for a  7 day week. The French during their godless Revolution in the late 1700s tried to make a 10 day week but it failed. No-one has successfully changed God's  7 day week.

6  is the number of man. Man was created on the sixth day.

Man has sin in his life and is thus one short of completion. All the unpleasantness and agonies of life on Earth are due to the presence of sin.

So mankind needs a new way of thinking to cope with this sinful environment.

Luke opens up a new idea that God will turn away from the Jews and turn to the Gentiles. But those Gentiles have to learn how to think God's way. God needs to cleanse us from sin and then dwell within our hearts to control us so that we can be part of His Big Picture, His hidden plan of salvation that the world seems to easily miss.

Luke has many clues hidden away in his Gospel that relate to the Gentile church.

The seven church ages, spread over two thousand years, is the great mystery that the Jews missed in the Old Testament.

Chapter 6 starts with the disciples who were hungry and who thus picked a few handfuls of corn from a field and ate them. The Pharisees, who hated Jesus, grabbed this opportunity to claim that they were working on the sabbath day and breaking the Jewish law of Moses.
LUKE 6:1   And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he went through the corn fields; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands.

LUKE 6:2   And certain of the Pharisees said unto them, Why do ye that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath days?

Jesus then referred them to a strange incident in the Bible where David had got hungry and ate the shewbread in the holy place that only the priests were allowed to eat. God never punished David for doing this.

LUKE 6:3   And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read so much as this, what David did, when himself was an hungred, and they which were with him;

LUKE 6:4   How he went into the house of God, and did take and eat the shewbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone?

Jesus has now caught out the Pharisees. They would not want to admit why God allowed David to get away with this act. Alternatively, they probably did not know why God allowed this. In that case they would have to admit that they were ignorant of the meaning of the Scripture. They did not want to do that either.

David's act in the Old Testament was reflecting the future Messiah of the New Testament.

Each of the Old Testament prophets acted out a portion of the ministry of Christ, the future Messiah.

So David was anointed as king by the prophet Samuel when he was still a boy but could not become king until the opposition, king Saul, had been killed.

Christ was anointed as King by the Holy Ghost that descended and remained upon Him, when He came out of the Jordan after being baptized by the prophet John the Baptist. But He will only take over as crowned King when the enemy, the beast and the false prophet are thrown into the Lake of Fire at the end of the great Tribulation.  Then Jesus will rule in the Millenium as King.

In between these two events Jesus is the High Priest of the order of Melchizadek who makes our salvation possible.

The first high priest Aaron was washed and anointed with oil by the prophet Moses.
EXODUS 40:12   And thou shalt bring Aaron and his sons unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and wash them with water.

:13   And thou shalt put upon Aaron the holy garments, and anoint him, and sanctify him; that he may minister unto me in the priest's office.

HEBREWS 5:5   So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.

:6   As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

Jesus was washed by the prophet John the Baptist in the river Jordan and anointed by the Holy Ghost as He came out of the water. This began His High Priesthood ministry.

Because David acted out the ministry of Christ as King, thus David was also permitted to carry out a priestly function in-between his anointing as king and being crowned king many years later. After all, David was acting out the ministry of Christ.

By adopting Jesus, Joseph had brought Jesus into the kingly line of David and as such Jesus was known as the Son of David, and thus entitled to the same privileges as David.
I PETER 1:10   Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

:11   Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

The Spirit of Christ was in each Old Testament prophet, indicating some aspect of the future ministry of Jesus. David was both a king and a prophet as he made certain prophecies.

As another example, Joseph was loved of his father Israel, but hated by his brothers. He was imprisoned with two criminals in Egypt. The baker died and the butler lived.

The Man Jesus was loved by God the Father but hated by His brethern the Jews. He was imprisoned on a cross with two criminals, of whom one died and went to hell, while the other went to paradise.

LUKE 6:5   And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

Now Jesus makes a huge claim. Not only did each prophet indicate some aspect of the life of Christ but even the sabbath day, so holy to the Jews, was just some manifestation of the ministry of Christ.

Sabbath means rest.
GENESIS 2:3   And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

God blessed the seventh day because God rested, not because it was the seventh day.

The emphasis was not on the seventh day (Saturday) but on the rest.

But resting one day a week from their hard work and money-making was not what God really had in mind because that was not making the Jews into better people.

The sabbath rest was meant to be a rest or ceasing from sin and unbelief.

HEBREWS 4:9   There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

HEBREWS 4:10   For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

It is no good working six days and then resting, and then going back to work again.

That is not what God did. He worked and completed His creation and then rested, and never went back to His creative works again because they were complete.

Six speaks of sin. 666 is the man of sin.  Working six days symbolizes our sinful works. Peter had the antidote to sin.

ACTS 2: 38   Repent and be baptized every one of you in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sin, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

The Blood of Jesus cleanses us from sin. Then the Holy Ghost, the Life that is in His Blood, comes into our hearts to control us and take away all the desire to sin. The Holy Ghost baptism puts Jesus in control of our lives and then we cease from the sinful works that we used to do.

Thus the sabbath day of the Jews (which did not make them better people) was just a shadow of the Holy Ghost baptism which does make us better people, because Jesus then becomes Lord of our lives, and lives inside us so that He can get us to do what He wants done in the New Testament.
HEBREWS 10:1   For the law having a shadow of good things to come,

Just like He lived out His future ministry on earth in the lives of His Old Testament prophets.

Thus the sabbath day was going to change from being a day of the week, and become the Holy Ghost baptism whereby God would inspire the Gentile church to follow His salvation plan throughout the changing circumstances of the seven church ages.

When we of our own free will, offer up our free-will to Him as the only personal sacrifice that we can make, and ask Him to take over and guide our lives according to God's will, then He is truly Lord of the sabbath, which is our rest from sin and unbelief.

Now the scribes and Pharisees tried to catch Him out again. They would accuse him Him of doing work on the sabbath day even if He healed the sick.

The Jews had missed the point. Doing no work on Saturday was symbolic of man not doing his own works of sin. The Jews in the Old Testament could not get rid of the desire to sin.  The only way to get rid of the desire to sin is to have Jesus living inside our human hearts and controlling us, which we call the Holy Ghost baptism. Then we do no works of our own, since all our works are controlled by Him. Only then can we fit into God's secret salvation plan as He directs and guides our daily lives. This could only happen in the New Testament dispensation that belonged to the Gentiles during the seven church ages.

LUKE 6:6   And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man whose right hand was withered.

:7   And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him.

:8   But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth.

:9   Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?

:10   And looking round about upon them all, he said unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

This made the Pharisees mad. Jesus had completely out-performed them. They could not match his power. He made them look second rate, and their wounded pride wanted some revenge. Yet Jesus had actually not done anything. He had just spoken some words.

What also made the Pharisees  mad is that this is exactly what their own priests did every sabbath when they conducted the religious services. The priests had to do much speaking. But God permitted the priests to do this. And Jesus had done no more than what the priests had done.

In addition the priests did work on the sabbath day when they made fires and killed animals as they offered up the sacrifices and burnt the incense. They had to wave the wave offerings horizontally and lift up the heave offerings vertically which symbolized the cross. They had to cut up the meat of the animals, and then remove them from the altars and keep the place clean. So the priests worked hard on a sabbath day.

Legally, the Pharisees were at a complete loss by condoning all this hard work of the priests and then complaining about the words that Jesus spoke.

LUKE 6:11   And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.

But the real issue is that the Pharisees had formed a denomination that was obedient to the commandments of man. They did not actually want the true Word of God because that was very different to what they were used to. They would only accept something that agreed with what they already believed. They could not change. They had no desire to accept something that was better than what they already had.

So instead of learning from Jesus, Who knew more than what they did, they preferred to destroy Him as He had exposed them as very inferior to Himself. They did not enjoy that dent to their pride.

Inertia means we just carry on doing what we are used to doing. We do not want to change.

That is the biggest mistake in our human religious systems. Today we want church tradition, not the Bible. That is why we believe that the wise men went into a stable when they actually went into a house.

But we love the tradition of giving presents more than we love what is written in the Word of God.

LUKE 6:12   And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

Jesus now had to put a team together.  Human leadership was so critical that He spent the night in prayer. This was one of the hardest things that He ever did judging from the length of His prayer, which indicates the huge responsibility of church leadership. Who can God use that will not elevate himself due to any successes that God allows him to achieve? Who can God trust to guide others into the perfect will of God, when our biggest weakness is that we do not realize that God does things differently to the way that we would. As humans we start relying on ourselves and our own talents as well as bowing down to the will of the people, as Aaron did when he built the golden calves because that made him popular. Human self-will and self-sufficiency is the ancient enemy of God. The only good human self-will is a dead self-will.

And the only way that we will find God's will is by prayer and obedience to His Word.

But the answers we get from God will be very different to what we expected. We must not pray to achieve our own self-will as that has no long term benefits. We are supposed to die to self. Today people are driven by taking "selfies", and being selfish, and self-centred. That is not a good space to be in.

LUKE 6:13   And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;

Our biggest problem today is to know who Jesus has chosen.

The early church would never have chosen Saul the great persecutor of the church, as the replacement for Judas. When Jesus ascended to Heaven, the apostles chose Matthias to take the place of Judas, but the Bible never mentions Matthias again. God chose Saul, renamed him Paul and he became arguably the greatest Christian of the seven church ages because he laid down 29%  of the New Testament, which is more than anyone else. More importantly, all the great Christians of the later ages had to agree with Paul if they were to claim that their doctrines were correct.

So right from the start, when the top Christians, the disciples, chose a human church leader they got it wrong.

Why? God thinks differently to what we humans do.

So the biggest problem with the spiritual leadership of the church is the fact that humans, who do not know God's perfect will, insist on choosing human leaders. The Roman Catholic church excommunicated Martin Luther, their greatest monk. They would never have chosen him as their leader.

We simply do not seem to be able to leave the leadership issue to God. We are desperate to maintain our humanly organized churches. That is why the church fails, and eventually in Laodicea, the last church age, the real Head of the church who is Jesus, actually stands outside the church. We can only imagine what he thinks of the human leaders who are inside the church, claiming to be the head of the church. The very leaders who have rejected Him, the Word of God.

LUKE 6:14   Simon, (whom he also named Peter,) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew,

:15   Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon called Zelotes,

:16   And Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was the traitor.

Here is a warning to us all. Where was the greatest traitor that ever disgraced the history of the church? Right there amongst the leaders of the church.

What was his biggest downfall? Money.

Rich church leaders. This has long been a problematic issue in church circles. In one way it seems great, that God is rewarding these people for their faithful service. But there is such a widespread range of beliefs in the churches that how do we determine who are the faithful leaders. All the different varieties seem to prosper. But then other religions have wealthy leaders too. And there are many wealthy atheists. So being rich is not proof of being faithful to God.

How many pastors live in the most luxurious houses? How many church leaders drive modern fancy cars? Have huge bank accounts? Share this "family business" with their wives or their sons or brothers or their relatives as co-preachers and helpers? It is important for them to keep the money in the family. "Church" has become big business.

So things have not changed over 2 000 years. The only times that Jesus got very cross was with the money changers in the Temple. These guys were making big money out of religion. Look how many big and wealthy churches there are today, just before everything gets destroyed in the great Tribulation.

LUKE 6:17   And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;

:18   And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed.

:19   And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.

Jesus, as a Man, was happy to deliver people from sickness, demon possession, and all sorts of ailments.

These were all necessary, but nevertheless short term health benefits. Being healed  is a huge benefit, but being healthy will not get us into Heaven.

Then Jesus began to focus on something far more important. Teaching the truth. This is more essential as it involves the long term benefits of God's salvation plan and Eternal life.

What Jesus has to say next is very different to the way that we humans look at things.

When the Man Jesus speaks, we humans hear a very different and unexpected view point.

LUKE 6:20    And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.

Christians keep praying and striving to get more money. God says it is better to be poor.

God's first priority in this sermon is the poor, as He is more interested in the poor than in the rich. Poor people are more dependent on God as they  have less money and thus less opportunities for getting out of God's will. In the short term the poor lose out in terms of worldly things and comforts, but God thinks long term. There will eventually be more poor people in Heaven than rich people, because poverty limited the number of wrong choices that the poor could make.

LUKE 6:21   Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.

There is no record that Jesus laughed. The shortest verse in the Bible says, "Jesus wept".

This statement tells us that planet Earth is full of hardship, pain, disillusion, and dismay.

Food is a necessary, but short term benefit. It is soon gone and has to be replaced. We are sorry for those who have too little food, but Jesus says that they are blessed. But that is not how we see it. So we need to change our viewpoint. Suffering in this life makes us focus more on heavenly issues of faith, rather than on worldly and material issues of self-gain.

We claim to be happy when we laugh, but this is a hollow happiness that is superficial. Laughing easily comes with personal success, but laughing cannot cope with failure and disaster.

But there is true joy. Please remember that the cup that holds our true joy must be carved out by the knife of sorrow. The deeper the sorrow that we have experienced, the greater the joy that we can later experience. Sadness and sorrow develop our characters, as they are more in tune with the desperate needs and sufferings of so many people. Difficulty and defeat are the hammer and anvil that beat the weak parts out of our characters, and strengthen our characters so that we can withstand the random tests of time that life and the Devil throw at us.

LUKE 6:22   Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.

If you stay with the Bible the church world will not want you. If they cannot prove you wrong from Scripture they will blacken your name and make you feel unwanted. They will detest your company and hate you with a passion and then make sure that they will remove you from their church.

LUKE 6:23   Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

Truth will be rejected. When you are thrown out of the church, that is the only way that you can find Jesus in the last or seventh church age. Because He also stands outside the church door.

Be happy in this rejection. Being well-spoken of by the churches is not a good sign. The same people who cheered Jesus on Palm Sunday were the people who crucified Him on the following Thursday.

Like Jonah (Jonas in Greek), He had to be in the tomb for 3 nights (Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday night) before He arose on Sunday.

MATTHEW 12:40   For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

"Good Friday" is unscriptural.

The next three verses condemn the main pillars that support the prosperity gospel. Christians' obsession with getting rich is what God speaks so scathingly about in the seventh or last church age.
REVELATION 3:17   Because thou sayest, I am rich,...

Wealth is usually what Christians seek and earnestly pray for.

LUKE 6:24    But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.

The downfall of Judas -- Money. Wealth opens the door to privilege and pleasure. This simply boosts selfish vanity. The more we spend, the more we want, and the less we appreciate what we buy.

Wealthy billionaires Alfred Krupp, John D Rockefeller, and Aristotle Onassis lived and breathed money, but ended their days in a nightmare of barren loneliness.

LUKE 6:25   Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.

The downfall of a complacent church comfort zone. I have food and I am happy. What a cheap and selfish mentality. Self indulgence becomes the aim of a pointless life.

LUKE 6:26   Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

Popularity and fame. What a pathetic spectacle as people seek self-worth in the opinions and admiration of other people. An overdose of fame and self indulgence destroyed the great Italian singer Mario Lanza, the glamorous film star Marilyn Monroe, and the famous rock-n-roll singer Elvis Presley, as their fortune and fame only led them into a world of heartache and despair and early death.

An irony of life is that people work hard to be celebrities, and then wear dark glasses to avoid being recognized.

Now Jesus stresses the need for courage and moral strength.

Do not fight back the way that the world fights. Be prepared to lose if you have to lose.

If God is in charge of your life, then everything that happens to you is for a reason. Even the attacks of your enemies is part of God's plan for your life.

LUKE 6:27   But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

:28   Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

:29   And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also.

David fought Goliath's spear with a sling.

Never fight an enemy with his own weapon.

Do the opposite because this is unexpected. If he hates you, love him. If he curses you, pray for him. If he hits you, do not hit back. If he steals one item, give him another as well. God awards you no credit for what was stolen from you, but you score points with God because you gave away the second item.

Giving impresses God, not taking.

This is not human sense or logic!  You can only do this if God is in you. Only a tough test like this can reveal if God is really in us. A corpse never fights back if kicked around. So if we fight back, we have not died to self.

LUKE 6:30   Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

:31   And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

Be ready to give to people. Then you can thank God that you have something to give.

If people take your stuff then be prepared to lose. You see, they are not really your items anyway. They actually belong to God. God lent them to you for a season, and He is now putting them under new ownership. This is an acid test for being dead to self, when you are not upset about losing material things. We actually own more than we need or can use. Less is more. Trimming down our possessions makes us into a leaner and more efficient user of what we have.

The golden rule is to treat others, both good and bad, just the way you want to be treated.

Treating people well who treat you well doesn't prove anything.

LUKE 6:32   For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.

:33    And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.

Treating people well who treat you well is no test

Can you treat people well who treat you badly? That is the correct human way of behaving.

LUKE 6:34   And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

If we help people so that they can later help us, then we are behaving just like the worldly people.

So that gets us no credit with God because that is what the  world does. And the whole motive is purely for personal gain and benefit.

Then follows a very difficult philosophy for us humans to accept :

Love your enemies and be good to them. Lend without hoping to get anything back. Forgive whatever happens to you because God allowed it for some reason. Show mercy to the undeserving.

Disagree but do not judge the person. Whatever they did, God wanted that done. God is using them to help us grow stronger. We need opposition if we are to develop.

Always be generous. It is more blessed to give than to receive.

LUKE 6:35   But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

LUKE 6:36   Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

If people are bad to you but you are good to them, then that is not normal human behaviour and it just proves that God is in control of your life. Humans love revenge but God prefers mercy.

LUKE 6:37   Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

LUKE 6:38   Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Do not judge people as they may change later in life. We also do not know all the circumstances that led to those bad deeds. Maybe God is just using them to mould us. Maybe we are just at a certain point in the history of God's Big Plan when those things just have to happen for some reason. So do not condemn the sinner but be ready to forgive. Remember, we are not perfect either and thus also stand in need of forgiveness.

Always be ready to give so that God can use you as a channel through which He can distribute to others.

LUKE 6:39And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?

Do not be too quick to follow human advice. The events of today are too complex for us to plan how to cope.

Thus we must follow what the Bible says. For us in today's world, the ditch is the great Tribulation that is coming.

LUKE 6:40   The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.

Jesus, the Master, went through much sorrow and suffering and ill-treatment. We are not above Him, so we have no claim to escape what He endured for us.

LUKE 6:41   And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

:42   Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.

We see our faults reflected back to  us in the lives  of others. What we do wrong ourselves and hide, we happily expose in others. When I point a finger at you, I have three pointing back at myself.

LUKE 6:43   For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

Accusing, condemning, and judging others is negative fruit while at the same time justifying self. If I am as good as I claim to be, let me not judge others as being corrupt.

LUKE 6:44   For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.

:45   A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

The Irish missionary Columba always stressed the truth that was in the Scripture. It is important to tell people what is right. Speak to them from the Bible and then we can't be too far wrong. But telling them man-made doctrines and opinions, that is evil.

LUKE 6:46   And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

Every Christian calls Jesus "Lord".  But this is meaningless if they do not obey what He says in the Bible. "Lord" means the "Ultimate Boss" Who is to be obeyed without questioning.

LUKE 6:47   Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:

:48    He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

Build your beliefs on the Bible. Then you will not have to apologize later. A flood of opposition cannot dislodge a single Scripture. However the world's situation changes, the Bible never has to change. It is a universal Rule that never needs upgrades or modifications.

LUKE 6:49   But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

Many scientists are atheists. They developed the Standard Model of Physics and the Big Bang to explain how the visible universe came into existence without any need for God. It was a brilliant idea until they discovered Dark Energy and Dark Matter which makes up 96% of the universe and is invisible. They have no idea what this Dark stuff is, or how it operates, or where it comes from. So the Standard Model has suddenly become a theory that helps them explain less than 4% of the universe, which is not at all convincing. The Big Bang does not help because they claimed that it made 98% of the visible matter ( visible matter is only 4 %  of the universe ) in the visible universe in the first three minutes. But the Big Bang said nothing about the invisible 96% of the universe that is dark.

So the clever Big Bang theory has fallen and lies in ruin as some of its top advocates like Alan Guth and Nobel prize winner Steven Weinberg distance themselves from the theory that they once championed.

Top physicists are now frantically searching for different answers but in the last 30 years they have discovered no experimental proof of any new laws of physics. (The Higgs boson discovered in 2013 confirmed a prediction that was made way back in the 1960s.) The foundations of Science are not a fixed rock but rather like shifting sand that changes as new discoveries come to light that demolish their former grand ideas. The scientists are trying a new String Theory but do not really know what it is, nor can they do any experiments to confirm it. So it remains a disconnected set of "maybe's". In the 1970s String Theory took the scientific world by storm. Today, we seldom hear about it,

Science simply cannot explain the universe now that 96% of the universe has disappeared from our sight. The Standard Model never predicted anything like Dark Matter or Dark Energy. So when it comes to explain the origin of the universe, atheistic scientists are not in a good space. They simply have no theory to tell us how it  all started. They do not even have a theory to tell us what the universe is.

If you are relying on atheistic scientists for the truth, you are going to be seriously disappointed when you become aware of their vast ignorance, as their clever theories only apply to such a tiny bit of reality.
